Privacy Policy
A plain-English account of what we collect, why, who else is involved, and how to opt out. We do not sell your personal information.
Tag & Timber is an online publisher operated by Type 5 Marketing LLC. This site is a static collection of articles and gear comparisons — there is no account to create, no cart, and no checkout here. Because of that, we collect very little, and this policy is short by design. It explains what we do collect, why, who the third parties are, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to Tag & Timberat tagandtimber.com. When you click a link that takes you to another company’s site — a retailer, for example — that company’s own privacy policy governs what happens there.
What we collect
- Contact-form submissions. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic, and message you type in, delivered to us as an email. We only get what you choose to send. We use it to read and reply to you and, where you flag a factual error, to verify and correct it.
- Standard server logs.Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records routine technical information when a page loads — IP address, browser type, the page requested, and a timestamp. These logs help keep the site secure and running and are not used to build a profile of you.
- Aggregate, anonymous usage data.We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which articles are read, roughly where visitors come from, what devices they use. This is anonymized usage data, not a file with your name on it.
We do not ask for or store payment details, Social Security numbers, or any sensitive personal information, because the site has no reason to.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics 4 sets cookies (or similar identifiers) to tell one visit apart from another and to measure things like how many people read a guide. GA4 is configured to report in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally. You can block or delete these cookies at any time through your browser settings, and doing so will not break the site.
Affiliate links
Some of the outbound links on Tag & Timber are affiliate links. When you click one and then buy something, the retailer — most often Amazon — may set a cookie in your browser so it can credit the sale to us and pay us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That cookie is set by the retailer, not by us, and lives under their privacy terms. It is simply how the retailer knows the visit came from here. For the full picture of how our links work and how we are paid, see our affiliate disclosure.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, full stop. We are funded by affiliate commissions, not by monetizing your data. The only parties who ever touch your information are the service providers below, and only so the site can function.
Third parties we rely on
- Amazon Associatesand other affiliate partners — process the clicks and purchases that earn us a commission, under their own privacy policies.
- Google Analytics— provides the aggregate usage measurement described above.
- Microsoft— our email provider, which handles messages you send through the contact form and our replies.
We choose established providers and share only what each one needs to do its job. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own unrelated marketing.
How long we keep it
Contact-form emails are kept only as long as we need them to handle your message and any follow-up — for a correction, that means until the fix is made and confirmed — and are then deleted in the normal course of clearing out old mail. Server logs rotate and expire automatically after a short period. Google Analytics retains aggregate data according to its own retention settings. We do not hold onto personal information longer than there is a reason to.
Your choices
- Opt out of analytics. You can block Google Analytics by using your browser’s privacy or cookie controls, an ad/tracker-blocking extension, or Google’s own opt-out browser add-on. The site works fine with analytics disabled.
- Control cookies. Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Clearing them will remove any analytics identifiers stored on your device.
- Reach us. If you have sent us a message and want us to delete it, or you have any question about your information, email us and we will take care of it.
Children’s privacy
Tag & Timber is a hunting-gear site written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information — adding a new analytics tool, for instance — we will update this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy. This policy works alongside our terms of service.
